Agency Overview

The Housing Authority of the City of Little Rock (LRHA), doing business as the Little Rock Housing Authority (LRHA), takes pride in administering federally subsidized housing and assistance to low-income individuals and families throughout Little Rock, Arkansas. As a public entity, LRHA empowers the community through essential government functions and possesses all the necessary powers to fulfill the objectives set forth by the Housing Authorities Act.

Governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, LRHA establishes strategic goals, approves policies, and directs the organization’s overall mission. Our mission is clear: to serve the residents of Little Rock by developing, owning, and operating safe, decent, and affordable housing that fosters thriving communities. 

LRHA’s Domain

LRHA maintains a diverse housing portfolio, featuring 902 traditional public housing units, 200 affordable housing units, and 158 market-rate units within mixed-finance properties. We also possess an Annual Contributions Contract authorization to administer 2,083 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers alongside 179 Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) vouchers, providing vital housing assistance to approximately 8,000 individuals in our community. 

The Future of LRHA

We are committed to enhancing our housing stock through targeted demolition, redevelopment, and modernization efforts. Future initiatives include leveraging our nonprofit, the Central Arkansas Housing Corporation (CAHC), as a partner for public and private redevelopment projects. This affiliate focuses on multifamily development, single-family homeownership, and property management opportunities, driving sustainable community growth. 

Board and Staff

The LRHA Board of Commissioners comprises five members appointed by the Mayor of Little Rock and approved by the City Board of Directors, serving five-year terms. The Board establishes policies and long-term goals and offers guidance to the Executive Director. Important decisions are voted upon during monthly board meetings on the third Thursday.
