MHA Job Fair

The Metropolitan Housing Alliance “MHA” along with partners; the Department of Housing and Urban Development Local Field Office and the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services, will be hosting the MHA Section 3 Job Fair on July 26, 2019, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Arkansas Workforce Center, located at 5401 S. University, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209. The event is focused on positioning low income housing residents to help attain sustainable life styles that will promote greater health outcomes and financial readiness. The event also enables MHA to promote the Section 3 program, which is a provision of the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Act of 1968 that helps foster local economic development, neighborhood economic improvement, and individual self-sufficiency.

The Section 3 program requires that recipients of certain HUD financial assistance, to the greatest extent feasible, provide job training, employment, and contracting opportunities for low or very-low income residents in connection with projects and activities in their neighborhoods.

This job fair is a targeted catalyst to attract supportive service providers and contractors to Section 3 businesses and targeted residents living in the Little Rock area. “Our goal is to continue setting a standard that will better prepare our residents and the community to meet the construction industry needs under the Metropolitan Housing Alliances Redevelopment in the Rock Initiative.” explains Jada Johnson, MHA Capital Fund Procurement Coordinator.

MHA is undertaking a $100 Million redevelopment initiative of its public housing stock. In conjunction with future activity, the MHA “Redevelopment in the Rock Initiative” will began its third phase by continuing the implementation of the Rental Assistance Demonstration “RAD” program to complete a substantial rehabilitation project at Sunset Terrace, Madison Heights Phase I, Madison Heights Phase II and Homes at Granite Mountain housing developments.

Other partners include representatives from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families “TANF” program, Project AWIN, ARS, Arkansas Economic Development Commission and Simmons Bank.
