Metropolitan Housing Alliance Announces Closures, Changes to Protect Residents and Staff

LITTLE ROCK, AR (March 19, 2020) – In accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Metropolitan Housing Alliance (MHA) will close its offices to the public effective Friday, March 20, 2020, at 8 a.m. and will remain closed until further notice. MHA staff will continue to provide essential services for residents. All scheduled appointments will be rescheduled for a later date when normal operating hours resume. Case Managers for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program will be available via email or telephone.

“I want to reassure the community that the MHA Board of Commissioners and staff are committed to doing everything we can to ensure the health and safety of our residents and staff during the coronavirus outbreak,” said Anthony Snell, MHA executive director. “We are in continuous contact with public health officials as well as local, state and federal officials and will continue to monitor the situation and adjust our services as needed.”

MHA property residents and HCV program participants are encouraged to continue to maintain their financial obligations. However, MHA will be working with families financially impacted by COVID-19 crisis. As always, maintenance will be available to assist with emergencies. Non-emergency  maintenance issues will be handled when the situation is deemed safe to do so.

Visits to residents of Cumberland, Jesse Powell and Fred Parris Towers will be limited to essential personnel. Social visits by family and friends are disallowed until further notice. Visitors are asked to answer a series of questions before admission and to practice frequent hand hygiene while on premises.
